Novel Submission Services
For authors who have completed their book and are ready to submit it to an agent or publisher. I offer four different submission services.
Novel Synopsis Edit and Critique - $40
Check for point of view, tense, content, sentence structure, clarify of storyline, plot progression, and character summary.
Novel Synopsis Edit, Critique, and Condensation - $60
The basic novel synopsis critique and includes shortening the synopsis to the required length.
Query Letter Edit - $20
Check for proper query letter structure, opening hook, content, sentence structure, punctuation, and grammar.
Novel Proposal Edit and Critique - $150
Substantive critique for all components of a novel proposal, including the query letter, synopsis, author biography, marketing analysis, cover page, and formatting (does not include the first three sample chapters).
Full Novel Proposal Edit - $295
All the elements of the Novel Proposal Edit and Critique plus a complete edit of the first three chapters. Let’s make sure you’re in top shape to meet that editor or agent!
Free Sample Edit
No-cost, no-obligation sample edit of the first 750 words to determine what your manuscript needs. All potential clients must get one of these before we contract for any services. Please send the first chapter.
Includes:
- A full sample edit that lets you see if my editing style will be a good fit for you.
- A free preliminary writing assessment of your strengths and weaknesses.
- A list of the Fiction Fundamentals teaching materials your story is lacking that I will send to you if you choose to work with me.
- 24-to 48-hour turnaround with final bid based on the depth of editing your project requires and the length of your book.
Fiction Editing Services
All fiction editing prices are dependent on the total number of words in the book/manuscript and the level of editing required.
Overall Book Critique
$600 – $1,200
Written analysis of plot, character, dialog, scene momentum, and all current fiction techniques. I will assess your strengths and weaknesses and will include a list of specific suggestions for changes and general suggestions about content, style, and tone. I will also check the plot and character arcs to make sure they intersect at the appropriate places. This does not include any editing of the manuscript itself.
Proofreading
Only for Editing Clients
A final read-through for a manuscript that has already been professionally edited and is about to go to an editor, agent, or publisher. The manuscript would be scrutinized for grammar, punctuation, formatting, and typographical errors. I will only proofread books that have already been edited either by me or by another editor.
Copy Editing – Substantive
$1,200 – $3,200
Checks for punctuation, grammar, formatting, typographical errors, inconsistencies in point of view and tense, redundancies, sentence clarity, flagging names, titles and quotes the author needs to check for accuracy. In addition to the basic copyediting, this also includes checking for content, dialogue, character development, and plot arc, setting, conflict, and author tone or voice.
My edits include basic copyediting, line editing, and all the techniques required in a substantive fiction edit.
Ghostwriting – Fiction Only
$8,000 – $20,000
Using the client’s plot outline, character charts, and research data, I’ll write a fiction book using all the methods and fiction elements mentioned in the above editorial tasks. At the client’s request, I’ll send completed portions of the manuscript for approval and discussion as the writing progresses.

Fresh Look - $125
Find out how you’re doing as an editor.
Assessment of the first ten pages of one of your substantive fiction edits, including Track Changes and Comments.
You’ll get provide feedback on what you are doing well and what you may be missing in your substantive fiction edits.
This will help you reach the next level in your business by boosting your confidence in your abilities, and I will recommend further education as needed.
The review will be returned with suggestions within two weeks.
Business Mentoring - $70/hr
One-hour sessions to provide personalized knowledge and guidance to beginning editors, including:
- Areas that need improvement in your professional journey
- Create goals and action items for your business
- Assess editing ability
- Share mistakes and difficulties to avoid
- Sample forms you can adapt for your business
- Answers to your professional questions and constructive feedback for guidance
You may purchase as many hour-long blocks as you wish. These mentoring sessions may take place via email, phone calls, or Zoom meetings per your request.
